The Director of Finance will help ensure continued business growth and success of Foundry. This role will be responsible for managing all accounting and external financial reporting functions, establishing and managing the implementation of policies and procedures, and establishing goals and objectives for these functions. 

As a key member of the Leadership team, the Director of Finance supports the financial management of the organization through management of the general ledger, improvements to financial controls, forecasting, negotiations, and policies. They will advise and inform the leadership team on accounting and regulatory guidelines as well as financial and business strategies. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining effective key relationships with operational management and Directors to ensure the financial management of the organization is optimized and executed to achieve full financial control and sustainable growth.


Director of Finance Duties & Responsibilities

  • Together with the Leadership team, responsible for the Company’s P&L and balance sheet and for establishing sales, profitability and cash flow goals
  • Formulate and manage the implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and systems. Oversee and implement the education of these policies to the organization to ensure compliance and understanding throughout the organization
  • Advisor for long-term business development and financial planning. Identifying, analyzing, and implementing necessary systems and processes to assist company leadership in effectively and efficiently managing financial reporting processes
  • Oversees the organizational financial reporting, planning, and analysis
  • Manage the development and maintenance of standard and ad hoc financial reports. Works with Leadership team and Directors to use financial data to facilitate sound business decisions
  • Provides oversight and administers Profit-Sharing plan
  • Identifies opportunities for expansion into new product areas. Oversee investments of funds while working with investment bankers to raise capital required for future growth opportunities
  • Manage contract reviews, annual financials audits, legal matters, banking relationships, and credit lines
  • Compares and conducts regular reviews on projected vs actuals for budgets, financials, and forecasts. Makes recommendations, establishes priorities and any necessary adjustments for the planning process
  • Provide advice to Leadership team through financial analysis and analysis of operational effectiveness, including information that is sensitive and/or confidential
  • Function as a technical resource for the organization, staying apprised of accounting, taxation, and compliance developments, providing recommendations and education to Company’s Leaders
  • Assist with set up, operations, and use of bank accounts and other financial processes
  • Other duties as assigned by Leadership

Requirements & Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial management
  • Excellent in both written and verbal communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to earn the confidence and support of a wide range of internal and external constituents
  • Proficient in database and financial application systems

A Note On Remote Work

Generally speaking, our collaborative creativity is multiplied exponentially by being in the room together, feeding off each others’ energy, and building on each others’ ideas.  We try to work together in the same office whenever possible, however, with regard to COVID-19, this position will temporarily be remote as the health and security of our staff is paramount.  Normally this job would require working from our offices in Downtown Minneapolis on a typical day.
